Reviewers have begun testing the Realme GT 7 Pro, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite. While this next-generation flagship phone promises significant performance improvements over its predecessor, it has encountered overheating issues during initial stress tests. Realme is among the first manufacturers to distribute review units of its new Snapdragon 8 Elite smartphone, and the company was so proactive that the review unit packaging incorrectly labels the processor as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the name initially expected for the new SoC.
According to Android Authority, the device was unable to complete any of the initial GPU stress tests due to heating issues. However, the outlet suggested that this overheating might be related to Realme's benchmark optimization settings, which manufacturers often adjust to achieve higher scores in synthetic benchmarks.
In tests where a disguised version of the benchmark app was employed, the Realme GT 7 Pro performed without any overheating issues. Digital Trends encountered a similar situation, reporting only a slight increase in temperature when the Snapdragon 8 Elite was used to play Asphalt Legends Unite for 30 minutes.
Overall, the phone showed strong performance in other tests, indicating that the overheating issue may be limited to stress tests. As Android Authority noted, this problem is likely tied to Realme's benchmark optimization, which could potentially be resolved through a software update, suggesting that other devices equipped with the same SoC may not experience similar overheating issues.
